CIFFA updates Container Examination fact sheet

TORONTO, Ont.–CIFFA has recently updated its container examination FACT SHEET which provides clarification and important information on the CBSA’s Container Examinations at First Port of Arrival, the association said.

The FACT SHEET was developed to provide guidelines for CIFFA members to help them manage examinations and provide information to their clients.

CIFFA freight forwarding members MUST advise exporters and importers that Customs examinations are possible and what a customer can expect if an exam takes place. Members should also advise their customers of the possible charges that will be incurred in the event of a customs exam. It is also important for importers and exporters to know that there is a CBSA mechanism for filing complaints that can be used if there are significant delays or problems with an exam.

More guidelines are provided on the FACT SHEET which is posted on the CIFFA website at http://bit.ly/1yqbVqx
