TORONTO, Ont.–CITT is presenting its newly renamed Canada Logistics Conference 2014, it announced in a release. The change of name, from Reposition, comes with the announcement that early bird registration has now opened for the October 22-24 conference in Calgary.
“What’s in a name? Plenty, if you’re securing the position of Canada’s leading industry-wide professional development conference in the SCL sector,” said the CITT.
The name Canada Logistics Conference was chosen because it reflects both the inclusiveness of the event and the range of its content, said CITT President Catherine Viglas.
“We chose the name to make sure it communicated that it’s the Canadian conference for logistics professionals. In the past, there had been some perception that the conference was an exclusive event for CITT members, and that’s not the case. We’ve had hundreds of delegates, including non-members, shippers, carriers, ports, and from across sectors from minerals to pharmaceuticals and more. High quality professional development opportunities like the Canada Logistics Conference are part of our commitment to the entire supply chain sector in Canada, and we wanted the name to reflect that,” she said.
CITT’s Conference continues to grow in its 29th year
Outreach to the sector as a whole has proven successful for the conference. Now in its 29th year, CITT’s conference has been held at cities from coast-to-coast, and has seen a consistent increase in both delegate attendance and enthusiastic support from sponsors.
When asked why the Canada Logistics Conference continues to grow while some other sector conferences have struggled to find an audience, CITT’s Viglas said it’s all about content.
“A great PD conference needs to have cutting-edge sessions and workshops. Networking and tours are important – that’s why our conference includes them – but the real value for delegates and their employers comes from the practical, actionable learning and thought leadership.”
Each session is hand-picked to reflect the present and future of logistics in Canada, said CITT. The seminar Making Sense of Big Data will provide an in-depth look at the increasing uses for data and analytics in logistics, and the Leadership EQ workshop will address the need to develop leaders and leadership skills within the sector.
“The broad appeal of the session topics is the other big reason we renamed the conference” said Viglas. “We focus on content that logistics professionals across sectors across Canada will find informative and immediately applicable in their jobs. So we want to make sure that professionals on both the client and supplier side of supply chain logistics know that they will absolutely find value in this conference-that’s why both shippers and carriers are always well represented in our audience, with many delegates coming back year after year. After all, the best outcome a delegate can get from a PD conference is going back to work feeling smarter and more motivated,” she said.
The Canada Logistics Conference runs from October 22-24 in Calgary. Find out more about the complete program and register for a special Early Bird rate until August 8th at www.citt.ca/conference
