MISSISSAUGA, Ont.–Through its Supply Chain Links project, the Canadian Supply Chain Sector Council is creating Connector, an online assessment tool that employers and individuals will be able to use to identify occupation-related strengths and skill gaps, and connect to education and training resources from Canadian providers.
Beginning this month, questions to be used in Connector assessments will be available for feedback from supply chain stakeholders. Supply chain consultations across Canada over the next few months will give people an opportunity to contribute to the development of this much-needed tool for the sector, the CSCSC said.
Employers will use the assessments and learning activities to gauge and upgrade their employees’ skills, while employees will use the tools to assess and upgrade their skills in relation to current or desired occupations; and job seekers will use the website to explore careers, assess their strengths and weaknesses, and determine where to go to upgrade their skills.
Recognizing the value of the assessment tool for the sector, CITT and SCMA are also working with the Council to draw participants to these consultation meetings. To do so, both are offering points to their members who contribute:
–CITT-Certified Logistics Professionals and articling participants gain 5 certification maintenance units.
–SCMPs gain 2 continuous professional development (CPD) credits.
