Damco Canada opens new Mississauga, Ont. head office

MISSISSAUGA, Ont.–Damco Canada recently invited customers and suppliers to celebrate the opening of its new head office in Mississauga, Ontario. Located close to Toronto Pearson Airport, the new office aims to further improve the efficiency of services to core customers. Distribution services are also provided from the company’s Bolton office, said a release.

According to Damco, the new head office was essential to support substantial growth in recent years and allow for ongoing growth initiatives.

“It provides us with the flexibility we need to continue expansion in the Canadian marketplace,” says David Chaplin, Head of Commercial Sales for Damco Canada. “We have grown our customer base and our services, and we have set ambitious goals to further grow and develop our freight forwarding and brokerage products in Canada,” he said.

The Damco Canada Forwarding Team is responsible for Ocean and Air Imports and Exports, and has pioneered many of Damco’s initiatives in North America. 

“The Forwarding Team has been a pilot for North America for many new developments, and it continues to be at the forefront of innovating how Damco operates. This ensures our customers win every time,” adds Lucia Pinheiro, Country President for Canada.

The Forwarding Team is supported by the Damco Canada Customs Group. This group provides a full service brokerage operation specializing in NRI (Non-Resident Importers) Business Registration applications and clearance for all modes of transportation. “Their attention to detail and compliance is evident in a less than .005% claims ratio due to broker error,” says Chaplin.

The group offers dedicated one-to-one customer service and plays an important role in educating and informing customers on the frequent changes in Canadian Customs Regulations, said the release.

The Damco Canada Forwarding Team and the entire Commercial Sales Office operate under LEAN Management Principles and are ISO certified.
