Alexandria, VA–The Transportation Intermediaries Association (TIA), in cooperation with the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA) and the TT Clubs, provider of insurance and related risk management services, is accepting applications for the 2014 Young International Freight Forwarder of the Year.

The award encourages the professional development and training of young people in the international freight forwarding industry. This annual award also gives the TT Club and FIATA an opportunity to enhance the international freight forwarding industry by investing in the young rising stars of tomorrow, said a release.

The contest is open to young freight forwarders, under 30 years old in the competition year and have completed at least 2 years of full-time employment in the freight forwarding industry.

The international award includes two weeks of practical and academic training. One week of academic training is in London and one week’s practical training based in one of the TT Club’s regional centers: London, Hong Kong or New Jersey. The award also includes one year’s free subscription of the International Transport Journal (ITZ), Switzerland and International Freighting Weekly (UK).

“We are pleased to be able to participate in this program to recognize tomorrow’s leaders as TIA has always supported these development opportunities,” said Robert Voltmann, TIA’s President and CEO.
