Air agreement negotiated with Spain

Federal Transport Minister David Collenette and Foreign Affairs Minister John Manley say they have reached an amended air agreement with Spain following negotiations in Madrid.

“The negotiations have resulted in a substantially liberalized air services arrangement with Spain, which enhances code-sharing rights, increases capacity and access, authorizes all-cargo service and provides greater flexibility for charter flights,” said Collenette. ”

Designated Canadian and Spanish airlines will now be permitted to offer more frequent flights, to serve additional destinations with own-aircraft flights, and to make use of code-sharing services. Charter services, such as those operated by Air Transat and Canada 3000, will also be covered under the new arrangements.
