KF Aerospace completes first ATR 72-500F for Purolator’s B.C. feeder network

KF Aerospace has completed its first ATR 72-500F conversion for Purolator, unveiling a custom livery at its Kelowna International Airport maintenance facility.

The aircraft, MSN707, underwent a passenger-to-freighter conversion over the past year and will enter service in late June pending Transport Canada approvals. It is the first of three ATR aircraft to replace the older Convair CV580s in Purolator’s B.C. Feeder Network.

KF will operate the aircraft under contract, delivering goods to communities across the province. The ATR 72-500F offers improved fuel efficiency and increased cargo flexibility.

“This delivery marks an exciting step forward in our relationship with Purolator and our dedication to the continued success of the BC Feeder Network,” said Bryan Akerstream, KF’s vice-president of business development. “We are proud to provide Purolator with a turnkey fleet solution made possible by the diverse capabilities of our teams—from aircraft acquisition to major modifications, in-house painting and flight operations.”

The new livery includes the Purolator logo and a KF logo near the tail, underscoring a long-standing partnership that dates back to 1976.

“The addition of the new ATR 72-500F aircraft will enhance Purolator’s air freight capabilities, ensuring we continue to deliver exceptional service and meet the needs of our customers,” said Jason Dacosta, general manager, air freight, Purolator. “With our strong commitment to environmental sustainability, we are pleased the ATR 72-500 will reduce emissions and lower our carbon footprint.”

The second aircraft is already at KF’s Kelowna facility, with the final unit set for completion later this year.
