WestJet Cargo has signed a year-round Block Space Agreement with Virgin Atlantic to sell cargo capacity on flights between Toronto and London, starting March 31.
The partnership marks Virgin Atlantic’s return to the Canadian cargo market after more than two decades, providing up to 20 tonnes of daily capacity on wide-body flights from Toronto Pearson International Airport to London Heathrow.
“Virgin Atlantic’s decision to entrust WestJet Cargo with managing this crucial route is a testament to our deep understanding of the Canadian market and our operational excellence,” said Kirsten De Bruijn, executive vice-president of WestJet Cargo.
Nick Diesel, managing director of Virgin Atlantic Cargo, said the agreement strengthens the airline’s presence in Canada and provides seamless access to its global network.
The deal expands cargo connectivity between Canada, Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia, with shipments from Toronto transported under a WestJet Cargo air waybill.
