ALK Technologies & TMW partner to market fleet optimization system
ALK Technologies, Inc. and TMW Systems Inc. have created a partnership to market FLEETCOMMANDER, a fleet optimization system.
FLEETCOMMANDER is interfaced to TMW’s PowerSuite and TL 2000 enterprise management software systems.
By combining information from TMW and mobile communication systems, FLEETCOMMANDER provides a graphical view of fleets using the routing, mileage and mapping technologies of PC*MILER. FLEETCOMMANDER, combined with PC*MILER or PC*MILER/STREETS, automatically sorts and interprets real-time vehicle data to produce detailed maps showing the location, status, arrival time and condition of trucks anywhere on North American roadways. Compatible systems include Qualcomm, @Track Communications, Aether Systems, and Terion. Driver "check calls" may also be accumulated and interpreted by TMW.
"What carriers know about their businesses and their resources determines the strength of the service they can provide," said Tom Weisz, president and CEO of TMW Systems. "TMW’s collaboration with ALK to integrate FLEETCOMMANDER into our enterprise software promises carriers a deeper set of tools they can use to manage resources better and service customers more consistently."
Industry studies show motor carriers and private fleets run up to 15 percent in out-of-route and empty miles.
"Our users have indicated a minimum of five percent of this out-of-route fleet mileage is preventable using FLEETCOMMANDER," says Vince Hamill, vice president of sales and marketing at ALK Technologies. "Using industry averages for operating costs per mile and fleet mileage, this results in an annual savings of $100,000 for a 100 truck motor carrier."
