Bison Transport joins U.S. EPA SmartWay Transport Partnership

Bison Transport today announced that it has joined the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) SmartWay Transport Partnership, a national Partnership to reduce greenhouse gas and other emissions from ground freight transportation.

Bison Transport and other partners will be recognized by EPA Administrator Mike Leavitt during a press event Monday in Washington, D.C. The event will publicly unveil the SmartWay Transport Partnership and reveal the first companies to join the government-industry partnership to promote cleaner, more efficient ground freight transportation.

Bison Transport will contribute to the Partnership’s goal to reduce 33 to 66 million tonnes of carbon dioxide and up to 180,000 tonnes of nitrogen oxide per year by 2012 by continuing to improve upon the environmental performance of its freight operations. Carbon dioxide is the most common greenhouse gas, and nitrogen oxide is an air pollutant that contributes to smog.

"By joining SmartWay Transport Parternship, Bison Transport demonstrates its strong environmental leadership and corporate responsibility. SmartWay Transport is a perfect fit for us as an organization, and its goals tie directly into Bison Transport’s on-going mission of becoming more efficient and environmentally responsible," said Don Streuber, President & CEO.

Bison Transport provides North American long-haul, dry-van transportation services.
