BNSF Adds Northern California Routes to Guaranteed On-Time Intermodal Service
As of August 6, the Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Railway Company will be expanding its guaranteed on-time intermodal service program to include routes between Chicago and Stockton and Richmond, California.
At the same time, BNSF will add a guaranteed option for its international shippers, covering international train service moving between the existing BNSF guaranteed markets.
With these additional lanes, BNSF now offers guaranteed intermodal service in 12 lanes connecting major U.S. markets. The lanes are: Chicago/Stockton (New), Chicago/Richmond, (New), Chicago/Seattle, Chicago/Portland, Chicago/San Bernardino, Chicago/Denver, Chicago/Alliance (DFW), St. Paul/Seattle, St. Paul/ Portland, Kansas City/Southern, California, Memphis/San Bernardino, Alliance (DFW)/San Bernardino.
BNSF began offering guaranteed intermodal service in May 2000 and also offers a full money-back service guarantee, which allows shippers to purchase, for a premium, a service guarantee for three intermodal service levels for international, domestic and perishable intermodal shipments in these 12 lanes. For each load that does not meet the scheduled availability time for customer pick-up, BNSF will offer a 100-percent refund.”Our guaranteed service program is attracting new customers who have traditionally shipped only over the road. The 100-percent money-back guarantee shows the shipping community that rail transportation is a competitive alternative to over-the-road transportation. We are listening to customers and will continue to expand this program as our customers request new markets and lanes,” said Steve Branscum, group vice president, BNSF Consumer Products.
