by Canadian Shipper

British Airways World Cargo has signed a contract with new UK-based aircraft, crew, maintenance and insurance provider, Global Supply Systems (GSS), to wet lease two Boeing 747-400F freighters, to be leased by GSS from Atlas Air Inc.

The new deal will come into effect in autumn 2001, once the aircraft are placed on the British register. The freighters will operate to the following destinations: London Stansted, Hong Kong, Frankfurt Delhi, Atlanta, Osaka and Calcutta.

“Leasing freighters provides us with maximum operational flexibility to meet our customer requirements whilst developing this area of activity,” said Gareth Kirkwood, managing director, British Airways World Cargo.
