Chuck Strahl, MP for Chilliwack-Fraser Canyon, is Canada’s new head of transportation.

Strahl took the position of minister of transport, infrastructure and communities from its previous holder, John Baird, when Prime Minister Stephen Harper announced a cabinet shake-up on August 6.

Baird has moved on to the position of House leader, and will now be responsible for negotiating with opposition parties in Parliament.

Strahl most recently led the Ministry of Indian and Northern Affairs.

He was first elected as an MP in 1993. In 2006, he was appointed minister of agriculture. In 2007, he became Indian Affairs minister and the Federal Interlocutor.
