Canada Maritime gets into the spirit

Canada Maritime has taken delivery of the second of its newbuildings.

Canmar Spirit was delivered from Daewoo Shipbuilding and Heavy Machinery and will commence operations in Canada Maritime’s transAtlantic services in September. Its sister ship Canmar Venture entered service in July.

Canmar Spirit and Canmar Venture are of a specialist design giving each 4100 teu nominal capacity, making them the largest and most powerful vessels
serving the St Lawrence River.

The two ships are each 294 metres long and 32.2 metres wide, with a draughtof 10.78 metres and a service speed of 22 knots.

Canmar Venture and Canmar Spirit will operate in Route 1 of Canada Maritime’s Northern Service. This service has three weekly routings through the Montreal Gateway. Route 1 links Montreal with Thamesport, Antwerp and Le Havre; Route 2 links Montreal with Antwerp and Hamburg; and Route 3 links Montreal with Liverpool.
