Canada Maritime pulls off hat trick in quality awards
For the third time in as many months, Canada Maritime has obtained a significant award for quality service.
In October’s Lloyd’s/Informa Liner Analysis Survey, Canada Maritime’s Northern Service won the star performer award in both the schedule reliability and transit times categories within the St Lawrence Trade section.
Based on a judgement and comparison of individual lines’ sailing performances between February and October this year, Canada Maritime was noted by the organisers for having: ‘commendable performance on the two loops of its Northern Service that offer a UK port of call.’
The star performer award follows news that Canada Maritime took second place overall in this year’s Quest for Quality Survey, the US transportation industry’s biggest survey of shippers, organised annually by Logistics Management & Distribution Report.
In LMDR’s Quest for Quality Survey, participants are asked to judge the importance of five service categories for each of the transportation services they purchase, as well as the overall performance of their carrier, using a scale of one to five.
Canada Maritime gained leading positions in all five of the Best-of-the-Best service categories, including first place for on-time performance, second in both value and customer service and fourth in both IT and equipment operations.
Completing the triumvirate of awards was this summer’s accreditation of Canada Maritime’s head office to ISO 9002 quality standards, thereby completing the registration of its main office network throughout Europe and North America.
The head office’s success in meeting ISO’s stringent requirements, after three days of auditing by Lloyds Register Quality Assurance, followed the registration of Canada Maritime’s agency office in Portugal only the previous week.
All of Canada Maritime’s other agency offices in Belgium, France, Germany, Italy and the Netherlands gained ISO 9002 accreditation in 2000, whilst Canmar UK gained its original accreditation back in February 1993.
In late 1999, Canada Maritime’s North American organisation gained ISO 9002 certification, following an 18-month accreditation process.
