Canadian Society of Customs Brokers elects new chair

OTTAWA, Ont. — The Canadian Society of Customs Brokers (CSCB) has elected Candace Sider as chair of the board of directors. The announcement comes following the CSCB’s successful annual conference entitled: “Making Borders Work: The Balance between Canadian and Global Priorities,” held in Vancouver Oct. 20-21.

Sider has served on the CSCB National Board since 2005 and has made a “vital contribution to the strategic direction of the society,” according to a statement by the CSCB. “She has been an active voice in the trade community for over a decade, serving the CSCB and other international trade organizations in a variety of leadership positions.”

Sider has worked in the customs brokerage industry for almost 30 years, having obtained her professional status in 1986, and is a Certified Customs Specialist. She is a member of the Professional Pricing Society and holds a certification in pricing.

Currently, Sider is the manager of regulatory affairs at Livingston International working out of Toronto and Fort Erie, Ont. In this role, she is responsible for navigating through a myriad of new regulations and policies in the post 9/11 environment and implementing policies and strategic alignment as they pertain to legislative issues.

The CSCB provides advice and guidance to Canadian and international regulators on new policy directions, and works to develop strong partnerships throughout the industry to create effective business solutions for the future.
