Cargojet acquires Winnport

Cargojet Airways Ltd. says it has acquired the shares of Winnport Logistics Ltd., an all cargo airline headquartered in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Cargojet Airways Ltd./Winnport Logistics Ltd. will provide aircraft services on an ACMI (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance and Insurance) basis to Cargojet Canada Ltd., and Lynn Bishop, President & CEO of Winnport Logistics will join Cargojet in the capacity of General Manager of Cargojet Airways Ltd.

“The air cargo business has changed dramatically in the past year. We have been looking for a strong organization such as Cargojet that would assist us in taking full advantage of our strengths, staff, operating authorities and international licences. Our sale to Cargojet is an important step and is very positive for Winnport”, says Bishop.

“This is a strategic investment that will allow Cargojet to manage our own airline operation, lower our operating costs, provide additional services in Canada, expand services to North America, Europe, and the Far East, allowing us to better service the needs and requirements of our customers. Winnport is a great fit for our company and will help us increase our position in the Canadian air cargo market”, says Ajay K. Virmani, President and CEO of the Cargojet Group of Companies.
