Carriers launch new Europe Southwest Asia service

by Canadian Shipper

Cosco Container Lines, Evergreen Marine Corporation, K Line and the Malaysian International Shipping Corporation Berhad (MISC) are launching a new liner service between Northern Europe and Southwest Asia.

The new liner service, branded the ISC Europe Express Service (IEX), began on March 21 with the sailing of Evergreen’s LT Greet (2,728 TEU) from Colombo. The LT Greet is expected to arrive in Antwerp on April 14, after which a containership will call at Antwerp’s North Sea Terminal every Saturday.

There will be direct sailings from Antwerp to Port Said, Colombo, and Nhava Sheva (Mumbai). Evergreen, Cosco and K Line have their own offices in Antwerp. MISC is represented by Eiffe.

The new service started just six weeks after the first sailing of Mediterranean Shipping Company’s new service to India and Pakistan. MISC too has chosen Antwerp as its only port of call in the Benelux countries.
