China launches shipping site

China has opened a national website on shipping that will be run by the Shanghai Shipping Exchange under the approval of the Ministry of Communications.

Initially the website is to provide information and a chatroom on a variety of shipping topics, including urgent news bulletins about the industry, sailing dates, freight rates, market comments and trust information, reports the Xinhua News Agency.

The site, chineseshipping.com.cn, will also include state laws and regulations on China’s shipping industry.

The website will link government, enterprises, shipping companies and customers.
