CITT announces R. Eric Gracey Memorial Scholarship

TORONTO, Ont. — CITT has introduced a new academic scholarship for future supply chain and logistics professionals.

Beginning this year, the R. Eric Gracey Memorial Scholarship worth $500 will be made available to one CITT-registered student who has successfully completed the level one Logistics Fundamentals courses.

The scholarship is sponsored by DTA, a Toronto-based freight consulting firm specializing in transportation and logistics. The company was acquired in 1960 by Eric Gracey, who was well-known in transportation circles and was one of the founding members of the CITT. Gracey’s daughter Melissa is now president of DTA.

Melissa Gracey says she has always wanted to honour her father’s contributions to the industry, and felt a scholarship for a deserving CITT student was the best way to do that.

“I have always wanted to honour my father Eric in some way,” said Gracey. “He spoke very highly of the CITT and was proud to be one of the founders of an organization where people could learn more about logistics. I am also proud of the legacy my father left at DTA and I am honoured to be working in the firm he built.”

The CITT offers several academic scholarships in varying amounts to help advance the academic needs of students pursuing a career in supply chain and logistics.
