CN adds new route

CALGARY, Alberta: CN is adding new import/export train services between British Columbia and Alberta.

Beginning in June, the services will run between the Port of Prince Rupert and Edmonton. A Prince Rupert-to-Calgary service is currently in operation.

As part of its expanded Alberta operations, CN is creating a new 2.75sqkm (680-acre) logistics park. The facility will be located in Rocky View County, near the Calgary airport and will open in January 2013. It will replace the the existing Calgary Intermodal Terminal.

According to CN executive vice-president Jean-Jacques Ruest, “the $200-million new logistics park, along with new connectivity to both the Port of Prince Rupert and Vancouver, will provide Alberta fluid access to world markets for consumer goods and industrial materials, as well as two prime export routes for its forest products, plastics and agri-products.”
