CN says that after making several changes to the operation of its Brampton Intermodal Terminal average carter turn times are now better than the 60 minutes the railway had committed to after returning to regular operation.
However, CN says it is continuing to experience delays in the gate queuing area "due to the poor quality of information provided when entering the terminal."
"All parties have accepted this lower standard of information quality for years; however, it is impeding our ability to further improve our terminal performance and service to you," says Clarke Trolley, Terminal Manager
Brampton Intermodal.
Effective October 8, 2003 CN is setting the following rules regarding information requirements at the gate:
Drivers will only be allowed to enter the terminal if the following requirements are met:
Providing correct Booking, Gate Reservation and Pick-Up numbers.
(Please verify through your respective dispatch prior to arrival at the gate)
All outstanding storage fees are guaranteed for payment.
(Please verify through www.cn.ca prior to arrival at the gate)
Providing complete and quality documentation upon arrival at the gate.
For further information on establishing credit with CN and the storage guarantee process please email requests to cartage1@cn.ca.
Any issues causing a processing delay of more than 15 seconds will result in the driver being turned away at the gate, CN says.. Any errors caused by CN will be corrected at the gate area. The Help Desk will no longer be available to provide assistance with documentation issues.
Once inside the terminal:
Drivers will not be allowed to change the designated container for pick-up.
Any units with missing seals or damage to the containers must be reported to the Lead Hand at the former Help Desk door in the out-gate queuing area.
Any issues with loads that cannot be found or drivers who have been in the yard over 60 minutes must contact the Mobile Supervisor Hotline at 905-986-7952.
The terminal will continue to ban drivers/Cartage companies that display a pattern of non-compliance with CN’s rules and regulations.
