MONTREAL, Que. — CN’s sustainability practices have earned it a place on the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) North America for the second year in a row. CN is the only railway among three large North American industrial transportation companies named to the DJSI North America for 2010-2011.
The DJSI follows a best-in-class approach, including sustainability leaders from each industry on a global and regional level. The annual review of the DJSI family is based on an analysis of economic, environmental and social performance, assessing issues such as corporate governance, risk management, branding, climate change mitigation, supply chain standards and labour practices.
“CN knows the long-term success of the company will reflect sustainable practices, and we are honoured that the DJSI has recognized CN as a leader in the area again this year,” said Claude Mongeau, president and CEO of CN.
“Credit goes to the hard work and innovation of thousands of CN employees. As a team we are committed to running a safe, efficient railway, working to minimize our environmental impact and the carbon footprint of our customers, and investing in our employees and the communities along our rail network.”
Launched in 1999, the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes track the financial performance of the leading, sustainability-driven companies.
