Con-Way Central Express opens new Pennsylvania service centre

Con-Way Central Express (CCX) has opened a new, larger service center in Greencastle, Pa. on that will allow the company to better handle growing volumes of commercial freight. A

CCX is a less-than-truckload (LTL) operating company of Con-Way Transportation Services Inc. (Con-Way),

“As the economy continues to rebound we are seeing more and more freight go through all our facilities. And Greencastle has always been a critical location for CCX because it is a major transfer and staging point for freight moving into and from the Northeast and South which are two of the largest freight markets in the country,” said David S. McClimon, president and chief executive officer of CCX.

The new facility has 165 dock doors and sits on 32 acres adjacent to Interstate 81 on Mason Dixon Road in Greencastle. It replaces a smaller 119-door facility.

The new high-volume facility delivers freight next day to all of Pennsylvania, Ohio Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Vermont, New Hampshire and parts of Maine, Indiana, Michigan, North Carolina and South Carolina. Two-day deliveries are made as far away as Miami, Oklahoma City and Fargo, N.D.

The company’s service area is all of the U.S., Canada, Puerto Rico and Mexico.

The Greencastle operation employs 131 people and plans to add staff as business continues to grow.
