Con-Way’s IT efforts ranked first in transportation industry
Con-Way Transportation Services Inc., the trucking and logistics arm of CNF Inc., has been ranked by InformationWeek magazine as the most innovative user of information technology of any shipping and logistics company in the U.S.
InformationWeek 500 examines companies’ technological, procedural and organizational innovations. The ranking appeared in the magazine’s annual listing of the country’s 500 most innovative users of information technology.
Con-Way ranked 15th in the listing of all companies surveyed, ahead of several much larger global parcel companies and other larger trucking competitors. The survey included such business household names as General Motors, Sun Microsystems, Dell, J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. and FedEx.
Con-Way stood out for several of its IT platforms, including its supply chain integration with customers; its extensive data warehouse, with ad hoc reporting capabilities; its application architecture including reusable software components, Java-based applications and utilization of an Enterprise Application Integration Tool; and its deployment of Customer Relationship Management (CRM).
