Contship begins Asia-Mediterranean trade
Contship Containerlines added a third weekly string to its services between Europe and Asia with the start of a service focussing on the Mediterranean market. Contship started two weekly services between Asia and northern Europe in March, and has now added a third string sailing eastbound from Barcelona, Fos, Genoa, Naples, Port Klang, Singapore, Yantian and Hong Kong. Westbound, the service starts at Hong Kong and goes to Chiwan, Jakarta, Singapore, Port Klang, and Barcelona.
Transit times are 18 days from Singapore to Barcelona, and 19 days from Genoa to Port Klang.
Contship Containerlines is offering the service through a slot charter agreement with CMA CGM with 12 ships ranging between 2,954- and 3,961- TEU capacity.
The shipping line already serves several major Mediterranean trades with services to the US Gulf and west coast, the Middle East, the Red Sea, the Indian subcontinent, South America and Australasia.
