Danzas inaugurates new mega terminal in Hamburg

To strengthen its European freight network and to expand capacity for new logistics outsourcing projects, Danzas Germany has inaugurated a new warehouse and freight terminal in Hamburg in the Hohe Schaar port area.

The entire facility, which covers about 90,000 square meters, includes roughly 10,000 m2 of freight handling space, 112 loading doors, a high-rack warehouse with about 7,000 m2 of pallet storage space, and a 2,800 m2 office building. New equipment at the facility includes pallets that shift automatically to the right loading door by an under-floor drag chain system. The same system services the high-rack warehouse. Both terminal and warehouse make maximum use of bar code techology to ensure efficient, virtually error-free pallet handling.

“The new terminal will play a very important role in our Eurocargo network. It strengthens the function of our Hamburg base as gateway for the Scandinavian and Baltic trades. Our customer- and market-oriented strategy enables us to react effectively to changing customer needs. We are in a position to offer customers all over the world a full range of logistics services while at the same time maintaining a strong regional presence,” said Peter Wagner, CEO Danzas Group and member of Deutsche Post AG’s management board.

The terminal, which was erected in only 15 months by Garbe Logistic AG as initiator and investor, began operations in March of this year.
