Day & Ross opens terminal in Whitby

Day & Ross Inc., the general freight division of the Day & Ross Transportation Group, has opened a new terminal in Whitby, Ont.

The 18,000 square-foot facility, located at 1850 Boundary Road, includes office space and 16 dock doors. Eleven owner-operators and six dock workers are based out of the terminal, which operates 24 hours a day, five days a week.

"We needed to open this terminal to better serve our customers, especially in the Durham, east Toronto and Markham area," said terminal manager Michel Cote. "This facility allows us to serve greater Toronto more efficiently. It also allows us to give a bit of relief to the Brampton terminal. The volume at that terminal has increased with Day & Ross’ continued growth."

The opening of the new terminal will impact more than 1500 customers who used to be serviced out of the Brampton terminal. Cote said these customers can expect greater flexibility on pick-up and shorter response times.

Day & Ross offers less-than-truckload, truckload , dry and temperature controlled service across Canada and to and from the U.S. through an established network of U.S. marketing partner carriers. It also offers scheduled TL operations to and from Mexico.
