DHL finalizes purchase of Mayne Logistics Loomis

DHL Worldwide Express announced today the completion of its purchase of Mayne Logistics Loomis.
Under the DHL Canada banner, the newly combined company will become the third largest express transportation provider in Canada. The acquisition is in step with DHL’s plans for expansion of its North American presence.
Providing courier service in Canada for more than 100 years, Mayne Logistics Loomis was already one of Canada’s largest time-critical courier services. Its corporate headquarters are in Mississauga, Ontario and it employed more than 3,000 people across the country. (Additional information can be found at www.loomiscourier.com)
Eric de Maat, existing President of DHL Canada, will assume this role for the newly reorganized company effective today.
Representatives from both DHL and Loomis will lead the combined organization. Commenting on the strengths of the new entity, de Maat noted, “We are confident that the integration of DHL’s extensive global express network with the strong Canadian infrastructure built by Loomis, will result in a dynamic organization with the depth and breadth of experience and resources to serve and grow the Canadian express and logistics
market.”
DHL expects to "dramatically expand" its Canadian domestic market share and improve cross-border service performance with the U.S. In addition, the new DHL Canada will offer customers a complete, ‘one-stop-shop,’ with domestic and international transportation services, the company says.
The DHL network links over 120,000 destinations in more than 220 countries and territories, and employs 71,000 people.
