DHL opens new express logistics center in San Jose

DHL has announced the opening of a new 82,800 square foot Express Logistics Center in San Jose, California. Operated and managed by DHL, Express Logistics Centers are large distribution centers offering centralized supply chain solution for service parts inventory management and distribution, says the company.

The San Jose Express Logistics Center is strategically situated in the Silicon Valley area to facilitate expedited service to DHL’s high-tech customers’ headquarters, R&D, engineering and manufacturing facilities.

“The opening of the San Jose Express Logistics Center is part of an 18-month investment program announced in February 2004, during which time DHL has made continuous investments in its logistics consulting capabilities, solution design and implementation, and the physical logistics network itself,” said Jon Guyett, head of Service Parts Logistics for DHL Americas.

In addition, the San Jose Express Logistics Center’s close proximity to DHL’s international gateways in Los Angeles and San Francisco affords expedited access to Asia-Pacific via commercial lift for the regular replenishment of DHL customers’ inventory within the six Express Logistics Centers and 150 Strategic Parts Centers located throughout the Asia-Pacific region, says DHL.
