DHL Worldwide Express targets Asian growth

DHL Worldwide Express is anticipating major growth in the Asia-Pacific region, including Hong Kong, Taiwan, China and Singapore. To best leverage this growth the company has created a new sub-area within the Asia Pacific region called the `newly industrialised economies’ (NIE) around these markets.

The company has appointed Jerry Hsu director of the new sub-area. He will be responsible for capturing new market potential and strengthening DHL’s market position in the NIE countries, and will be working with Andy Tseng, area director, NIE and greater China, to whom he reports. Mr Tseng will be focussing primarily on the China market.

“The creation of the NIE sub-area will increase DHL’s management effectiveness by allowing us to focus on similar business issues and opportunities from a single management point of focus. With this new structure, we can more effectively and efficiently develop opportunities in express logistics, express distribution and other business initiatives in these markets,” said Marc Duale, chief operating officer of DHL Asia Pacific.
