FMA and the Western Canadian Short Line Railway Association (WCSLRA) will be working together to share information of interest to the members of both associations, this will include government relations initiatives. The Western Canadian Short Line Railway Association (WCSLRA), previously the Saskatchewan Short Line Railway Association, is a not-for-profit, membership-based organization representing the interests of 18 short lines across Western Canada and 24 industrial and service provider members.
3PL Links Inc.
3PL Links Inc.,has opened two new facilities in the greater Toronto area (GTA) representing an additional 38,000 square feet of office and warehousing space. A 24,000 square foot facility will open in Vaughan, Ontario, with 10 employees. A smaller, 14,000 square foot unit will open in Woodbridge, Ontario, with 16 staff.
CDMV
Veterinary product and service provider CDMV has signed a 25-year lease with Saint-Hyacinthe Technopole for a building that will house its future head office as well as its new logistics centre serving the province of Quebec. The new building, with a leasable area of 135,000 square foot, will be part of the City of Agri-Food and Veterinary Biotechnology of Saint-Hyacinthe, an innovation hub. It will include automated conveyors, a three-level picking platform, a computerized order and inventory management system, as well as automated transportation management solutions. Construction work will begin in March and is expected to be completed in spring 2022.
Varcode
PLD will assemble and apply Varcode “Smart Tags” to its products as they roll down the assembly line. PLD manufactures, packages, and distributes more than 300 healthcare products for retailers and pharmaceutical companies in the U.S. and around the globe. Varcode’s Smart Tags change based on customized time and temperature parameters, tracking product safety and efficacy throughout the supply chain. The barcoded Smart Tags are scanned by any fixed or hand-held scanner as well as smartphone. The labels use a combination of precisely tuned chemicals and a uniquely printed layer to capture cumulative temperature variances when and where they occur and create a permanent, irreversible digital record securing stored in the cloud.
