Evergreen Group extends helping hand to Japan

TAIPEI, Taiwan — Evergreen Group chairman Dr. Yung-fa Chang has allocated company resources, including its marine and aviation business, to assist the post-tsunami rescue work in Japan.

“We will make every effort to provide any necessary assistance to Japan’s governmental offices or related international rescue organizations,” said a company spokesperson.

Evergreen affiliate EVA Air has already extended its resources to transport a 35-person rescue team and 6,600 lbs of materials from Taiwan to Japan on March 13.

On March 14, the carrier again received request from local Ministry of Foreign Affairs to carry a large amount of goods needed for the Japanese people.

Evergreen Group officials have said that appropriate agencies should take advantage of its resources to assist the ongoing emergency rescue and recovery work.
