GCT Canada appoints new VP

VANCOUVER, B.C. — GCT Canada has appointed Eric Waltz to the position of senior vice-president, effective Aug. 26.

 

“Eric has a broad international background within the maritime industry and brings the right skills and experience to head up our Canadian operation. He will be responsible for the profit and loss, and day-to-day management of our two container terminals in Canada, including Deltaport, the largest container terminal in the country,” said Michael E. Moore, president and CEO of GCT Global Container Terminals.

 

Waltz is currently chief operations officer at APM Terminals in Cape Town, South Africa with overall responsibility for the performance of all terminals in the Africa Region. His operational and managerial career with APM Terminals has taken him from Tacoma to Los Angeles, Long Beach, and Malaysia before settling in Africa.

 

In addition to his maritime experience, Waltz was a Lieutenant and Platoon Leader in the US Army and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Studies and Industrial Engineering from West Point in New York.

 

GCT Global Container Terminals Inc. is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan, one of the largest financial institutions in Canada. The company operates four container terminals through three principal businesses in North America, including TSI Terminal Systems in Vancouver and Delta, B.C.

 

In Canada, TSI provides service for more than 70% of the containerized cargo that moves through the Port of Vancouver at Vanterm in the inner harbour and Deltaport at Roberts Bank.
