“Global access network” for moving cargo created

by Canadian Shipper

The Southern California Logistics Airport (SCLA) and Rickenbacker International Airport (LCK) have joined forces to form what they are calling the Global Access Network, to provide seamless aviation services system supporting domestic and global air cargo needs.

The Global Access Network aims to provide a one-stop solution for a full-range of logistics services including multi-modal transportation, supply-chain management and aircraft maintenance and storage.

Tighter security restrictions at passenger airports has seen the aviation industry look to segregate dedicated cargo to complementary commercial airports.

SCLA and LCK are both former military bases. SCLA, located in southern California, is perfectly situated to handle cargo from the Pacific Rim and South America while LCK is strategically located in Ohio for proximity to the eastern United States, Canada and Europe.

Cargo airlines using the network include ASB-Air, Fed Ex, Fed Ex Charter, Fed Ex Express, UPS, Eagle Global Logistics, Heavy Lift, Malaysia Air, Polar Air Cargo, Panalpina and Evergreen International Airlines and other leading air cargo companies have taken advantage of the Global Access Network.
