Halifax International Airport Authority decreases aeronautical fees
Halifax International Airport Authority has decreased aeronautical fees, a decision that was commended by the President of the Air Transport Association of Canada (ATAC).
J. Clifford Mackay, ATAC’s President & CEO, said this was a welcome decision that signals to the industry that the Airport Authority "is sensitive to the pressure on the entire industry to reduce costs to meet changing market demands, and it also demonstrates the effectiveness of management, insofar as the growth of other revenue sources has allowed the aeronautical fees to shrink.
Halifax International is a dominant hub in Atlantic Canada, says ATAC, critical to its region.
"Moreover, a major portion of (Halifax)traffic is carried on smaller, regional services which are especially cost sensitive," says Mackay.
