Hamburg Sd, specialists in North-South marine transportation and intermodal logistics is now offering a new South America/Far East (SAFE) service via South Africa.

The fixed day weekly service will commence in November 8th with an initial westbound sailing from Hong Kong to Kaohsiung, Singapore, Durban, Cape Town, Buenos Aires, Montevideo, and Santos. The first eastbound sailing will commence on or about December 12th from Santos.

Company officials said the new offering further expands its ability to offer customers a global range of services and opens new opportunities for trade between Latin America and key markets in the Far East. The SAFE service is supported by Hamburg Sd’s extensive network of proprietary offices throughout Latin America.

This is the second Far East service established by Hamburg Sd and its member lines this year. Its Latin America – Asia (LAMA) route, launched in December, 2000, also operates on a fixed-day weekly frequency, linking the West Coasts of the Americas with Far Eastern ports of Hong Kong, Yantian, Shanghai, and Busan via Vancouver.
