Cao Bo Chun, Secretary General of the Chinese Communist Party Committee of Guangxi Province, is in Toronto today for an official visit to Ontario’s Legislative Assembly.
He is scheduled to meet with Speaker Gary Carr and Ontario Exports Inc. chairman William Saunderson.
Cao is leading a high-powered delegation of 59 Chinese government officials and business people to Montreal, Ottawa, Vancouver and Toronto, May 27 – June 2. Unlike most high-level Chinese delegations abroad, the Guangxi visit is being facilitated by a private company, PBB Global Logistics. PBB, which recently led 15-day trade mission to China, is serving as an intermediary, leveraging contacts and networks in both Canada and China.
Cao heads a province of almost 45 million people and an economy that is among the fastest growing in China. Many other dignitaries, including Guangxi Vice Governor Zhang Wenxue, will be accompanying the mission.
The objective of the mission is to increase awareness in Canada of the many opportunities available for doing business in Guangxi. The delegation hopes to build new relationships between Canadian and Chinese companies at the highest levels of business and government.
This is the third major Chinese delegation to Canada that PBB has organized in the past two years. Its Corporate Travel experts, who specialize in business travel and special event planning, are also arranging the delegation’s travel details.
Guangxi province is home to Nanning, a major commercial hub for Southwest China. The province is currently implementing a comprehensive economic development plan, which includes significant infrastructure investment and further development of the province’s ocean ports.
“This is a very powerful delegation with the highest level of government involved,” says Mike Scott, President & C.E.O., PBB Global Logistics. “We are delighted to see that the relationships PBB has established in China are leading to significant opportunities for Canadian companies.”
PBB Global Logistics employs more than 1,000 people in 70 locations throughout North America.
