IATA tells members to tighten security

International Air Transport Association Director General & CEO Pierre Jeanniot, condemning Tuesday’s terrorist attacks on the U.S., is now Urging IATA’s 276 Member airlines to review their own security measures in order to maintain the highest security level and continue to remain extremely vigilant.

Mr. Jeanniot has requested the IATA Security Committee to convene an emergency meeting to review and propose any additional security procedures which may be necessary and to implement best practices already available.

IATA is cooperating fully with the authorities involved in the investigations and says it will do everything in its power to ensure that this type of tragedy does not reoccur and that public confidence in air transport is restored.
