Intermodal strategy cell formed

by Canadian Shipper

A new think-tank, the European Reference Centre for Intermodal Freight Transport (EURIFT), has been set up to look at the potential and capabilities of intermodal services in Europe.

The centre will aim to provide independent and comprehensive information to support the development of the European intermodal industry.

EURIFT’s geographical scope will cover all EU member states, Switzerland, Norway and EU candidate countries.

The organization will be jointly funded by the European Union and the cities of Hamburg and Bremen, and will rely on a core team of experts to manage its offices, run an internet portal, manage conferences and provide services to individual customers.

An international network of member institutes and universities will back the core team.
