KLM sells cargo service centre to D.Logistics

by Canadian Shipper

Germany-based integrated full logistics service solutions provider D.Logistics AG is to take full acquisition of Cargo Service Center.

D.Logistics AG and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines (KLM) have recently signed an agreement on the acquisition. CSC, currently wholly owned by KLM, is a global air cargo ground services operator, handling more than 1.5 million tons of cargo annually. Under the agreement CSC will continue its service contract with KLM Cargo.

Last year D.Logistics and KLM signed a letter of intent for the transaction. The sale is part of KLM’s strategy of placing greater focus on its core activities of passengers and cargo transportation, engineering and maintenance.

The integration of CSC will provide a strong presence in airport services, while enhancing the group’s overall integrated supply chain solutions. The company will provide logistics services consulting, IT solutions, e-business and packaging. D.Logistics’ service unit processes around 500,000 tons of cargo per year, with the new company able to handle more than 2 million tons of cargo.
