Kuehne & Nagel, Sembcorp Logistics and USCO form alliance

Kuehne & Nagel, SembCorp Logistics and USCO Logistics have teamed up to form a global logistics and supply chain management alliance, reports Schednet.com

The newly formed group is aiming for a strengthened customer and industry focus, consistent operations and the integration of information systems.

The new alliance will have a combined global warehousing and distribution space of nearly four million square metres. Kuehne & Nagel’s logistics presence in Europe and Canada complements USCO’s position as a warehouse-based logistics service providers in North America. In the Asia-Pacific region SembCorp Logistics offers access to comprehensive infrastructure in Singapore, Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar and Thailand.

The partners say they will coordinate and leverage strategies concerning products and sales, operations and information systems, targeting customers in the high-tech and consumer electronics, pharmaceutical and healthcare, consumer durables and retail industry sectors as well as industrial goods shippers.

The companies will also undertake internal operations benchmarking in order to ensure global consistency of processes and quality. This benchmarking will create standards for service estimates, solution design, orienting new employees and starting up and integrating operations.
