Lufthansa Cargo launches cargo counts subsidiary

Lufthansa Cargo has launched an all-in airfreight management service company to airlines that focus on passenger traffic but wish to improve their air cargo business segments.

“cargo counts GmbH” is an autonomous subsidiary which emerged from a specialist department previously run by Lufthansa Cargo. The new company will handle the entire air cargo business of client airlines with the exception of flight operations and ramp handling.

Lufthansa said in a release that “the company name pointedly denotes its purpose: to make cargo count”.
As such, the new cargo subsidiary takes over all freight-relevant processes such as sales, marketing, ground handling, accounting, IT and controlling as well as flight data, yield and capacity management.

Cargo counts says customer airlines receive a contractually agreed share of income from their air cargo business.
