Lykes Lines upgrades north-south East Coast service
Effective September 24, Lykes Lines is adding ports of call, cutting transit times and increasing frequency on its US East Coast – East Coast South America Service.
The upgrade to the weekly service, operated over two loops, has been achieved through re-negotiation of a vessel sharing agreement, with replacement of existing tonnage and revised schedules.
This allows Lykes Lines to offer new calls at the ports of Baltimore, Jacksonville, Freeport (Bahamas), Fortaleza and Salvador on this service. Transit times have been significantly reduced, including Miami to Santos cut from 14 to 10 days and Rio de Janeiro to New York cut from 15 to 11 days.
The new service also doubles the number of sailings between Santos and New York, Charleston, Jacksonville and Miami from once to twice a week.
Port rotation is as follows:
Loop 1: Philadelphia, New York, Baltimore, Norfolk, Charleston, Jacksonville, Miami, Suape, Rio de Janeiro, Santos, Buenos Aires, Rio Grande, Santos (NB), Rio de Janeiro (NB), Fortaleza (NB)*, Suape (NB)*.
*alternate calls every two weeks
