MOL Logistics expands Trans-Pacific Service profile

MOL Logistics (Japan) Co., Ltd. [MLG] has announced plans to start cargo consolidation services in the trans-Pacific trade beginning in October.

MLG is strengthening its service profile to meet the increasing demand for advanced logistics services linking the U.S. and Asia. The expansion of MLG’s service scope is also an integral part of the MOL Group’s action plans specified in MOL next, mid-term, strategic plan

MLG’s expanded service profile will be supported by the company’s internal IT network, Starlink, which will integrate the MLG network in the United States with 18 MLG offices in 11 countries in Asia. MLG will now provide customers with logistics arrangements from the point of origin to the final destination.

In the United States, MOL Logistics (USA) Inc.’s Corporate Sales Offices is the centralized management unit for the new service and has positioned staff in key U.S. markets, such as New York and Los Angeles. In addition, MOL Logistics (USA) Inc.’s 13 offices, located throughout the United States, will function as the primary contact for sales and customer service.

Supported by the Starlink system, developed by MOL’s wholly owned subsidiary, Star-Net, customers are ensured a reliable and sophisticated flow of logistics information. MLG’s Starlink system offers customers IT access to precise purchase order and cargo tracking functions over the Internet. The system also can be easily customized to meet a range of customer needs.

In preparation for the service expansion, MOL Logistics (H.K.) Ltd. is integrating into its organization the functions and operations of MCS, Ltd., the current MOL Group consolidator. MOL Logistics (H.K.) Ltd. has also dedicated staff in its Ocean Forwarding Division to enhance its capacity to meet a range of logistics needs.
