In a significant step towards further developing its market presence in Greece, Contship Containerlines has appointed Inchcape Shipping Services, from the end of October.
Contship Containerlines already makes direct calls at Piraeus on two of its services and also serves the Greek market via effective links to its other mainline services via transhipment hubs in the Med.
With the appointment of Inchcape Shipping Services, Contship Containerlines is confident that it will be able to build on these links, as well as make more use of the transhipment opportunities through Greece’s leading port.
Inchcape Shipping Services’ roots in Greece stretch back over 150 years and liner agency has always been at the heart of its activities.
"Greece and the Eastern Med are areas of potential growth for us. Piraeus, where we make direct calls on two of our mainline services between Europe and Australasia, serves as a transhipment centre for many parts of the Eastern Med," said David Halliday, Senior V.P. of CP Ships with specific responsibility for Contship Containerlines. "By working with Inchcape we are looking to expand carryings on all the services that we offer to customers in Greece.
