New offices and liner services for Hamburg Sud

Hamburg Sud has established its own offices in Turkey and taken over Andrew Weir’s “Deep Sea” liner services in the U.K.

Hamburg Sud Turkey will commence activities on Feb. 1, 2003 with branch offices in Istanbul, Izmir and Mersin. The new facilities will handle sales, customer service and logistics functions.

The company’s current agency agreement with Catoni Deniz Isleri A.S. will be terminated effective Jan. 31, 2001.

Hamburg Sud also reached an agreement to take over Andrew Weir’s “Deep Sea” liner services to Eastern Mediterranean, Israel, India/Pakistan and East Africa. The take over will also include staff employed for the liner services as well as the container equipment.

The carrier plans a transfer of operations for Jan. 1, 2003.
