New safety project for IATA
The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has launched a new safety project called the Safety Trend Evaluation, Analysis and Data Exchange System (STEADES).
Incident reports from airline personnel are collected by STEADES in a de-identified format to ensure confidentiality. This data will be forwarded to IATA via the airline safety department and will then be analyzed for trends. Findings will be shared globally amongst the participants.
IATA says the system is founded on the well-proven British Airways BASIS software and will enable their airlines to share security lessons arising from incident data.
