A proposed expansion to the Ottawa airport will include a new $140 million terminal to be built alongside the airport’s existing terminal and completed by 2004. The project also includes a parking structure and improvements to infrastructure.
The total cost of the first phase of the expansion is pegged at $300 million. The expansion project is expected to more than double the airport’s existing capacity at its completion.
Plans for the expansion of Ottawa’s airport facilities have been driven by an explosive increase in air traffic to and from the National Capital region. The Ottawa Airport currently serves 3.4 million passengers per year.
