NYK purchases ETA Transportation Inc. of Bentonville, Arkansas

NYK Line (North America) is purchasing ETA Transportation Inc., a full service logistics provider headquartered in Bentonville, Arkansas.

The company has warehouses in Bentonville; Macon, GA; Johnstown, NY; Indianapolis, IN; Las Vegas, NV; and Claremont, NC. Additionally, ETA has warehouses and offices in Laredo, TX and Celaya, Guanajuato, Mexico to service its extensive Mexican operations. ETA also has truck operations which provide quality, specialized transportation services across the US and Mexico.

“ETA is an outstanding, specialized logistics franchise with a strong and loyal customer base which will synergize very effectively with NYK’s current logistics companies,” said Kinichi Hirayama, Chairman of NYK Line (North America).

ETA’s founder, C.J. Charlton will continue as CEO of ETA and take on additional responsibilities as Senior Logistics Adviser to NYK’s Executive Management team. C.J. Charlton founded ETA in 1990 after a long and successful career as a transportation and logistics executive. He was the first Director of Transportation for Wal-Mart Stores.

Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK), founded in 1885, is Japan’s largest marine transportation company with operations spanning the globe. The company owns and operates some 758 vessels that provide a broad range of shipping services that include container, tramp, and specialized transport services. The Company also offers logistics services in a highly integrated transportation network.
